The New Horizons Institute of Technology (NHIT). Durgapur, which offers three-year Diploma in Engineering (Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Tele-communication Engineering & Mechanical Engineering) successfully organized a Technical Fest of lOth March, 2012. There were a large number of technical events, the first any such technical programme was organized by any Diploma Engineering College inWest Bengal.
The fest named en-HI-tech or enhancing high technology, comprised of Checkmate (Treasure Hunting, Technical Puzzle), debate on current confusions, technical quiz, computer gaming, photography exhibition, film show on high technological arena, and most importantly about 40 innovative models presented by different NHIT students of all disciplines.
The programme was inaugurated by secretary, W.B.S.C.T.E and WBSCVET in the presence of 1,100 students of NHIT, some SOD students from different Colleges, Ills, Vocational Institutes and about 70 Schools from Durgapur - Asansol region. The student alumni foundation and announcement of publishing the first technical magazine Aditya 2012 were two important highlights of en-HI-tech 2012.
Eminent educationists from different academic organizations like Prof. T. Kumar, Director NIT, Durgapur, Mr.S. K. Bose, Director NPTI, Durgapur; Prof. Dr. Subrata Mandai, Principal, Bandel Survey and Kalna Polytechnic College, Prof. Soumitra Saha, Principal, Central Calcutta Polytechnic; Mr. Atanu Mukherjee, Chairman, The Institution of Engineers India, Durgapur Centre etc. visited the fest. Also Present were Mr. Nilotpal Roy, CEO, MIFL; Mr. K. K.Goel, GM 1/C(Works) ASP and almost all the top officials of Durgapur- based Industrial organizations, like DSP, DPL, GIL, PCBL, BCL etc. The jury comprising eminent professors from National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, like Dr. B. Halder, H.O.D(ME), Dr. A. N. Mallick, Professor (ME), DR. P. Ray, Professor(CE)., Dr. R. Ghatak, Professor (ETCE), Dr. N. K. Roy, H.O.D(EE), founder of high voltage laboratory in the international academic arena judged the project works authentically and made valuable suggestions encouraging the students.
The NHITIANS are waiting to see their next en-HI-tech in more and more enlightened manner. The mission is going on.....
